BARRAUD AND LUND, Cornhill London No. 1693, c1840.


A fine nineteenth century miniature travelling timepiece.  The rosewood five glass case standing on adjustable brass bun feet and surmounted by a brass carrying handle. 

The elongated gilt brass dial has an engine turned surround to the plain gilt roman chapter ring with fine scroll engraving to the centre. 

The single fusée timepiece movement has a platform lever escapement with plain balance wheel and lever escapement. 

Both the dial and backplate are signed and numbered by the maker.

Barraud and Lund are recognized as one of the finest makers of precision clocks in the nineteenth century.  This particular example would date from c1840.
