Description:

An important William & Mary walnut portable barometer with the option of free standing or wall hanging. The fluted and twisted stem terminating in a plain cistern cover standing on four cast brass folding feet.  The stem rises to the delicately engraved, signed and numbered, cast brass housing to the silvered register plates with three finials above.

Daniel Quare, one of the most important English clockmakers, is credited as having invented and patented in the late 17th century, the portable barometer.  Several are included in the Royal Collection
