Description:
A fine and small English regency travelling clock in an arched rosewood case with adjustable brass bun feet and gadrooned top, surmounted by a brass carrying handle. The case with finely pierced brass sound frets to the sides and rear door.
The arch silver brass dial is engraved with the chapters, strike/silent above and the maker’s signature beneath, Yonge & Son, Strand, London.
The two train fusée movement with plain gold balance fixed vertically on the back plate and hour strike with repeat sounded on a bell.
George Yonge & Son are recorded as working in London between 1820-1825 and were appointed Clockmaker to the Lord High Admiral.
