HENRI JACOT No. 4385, Paris c1890

A rare giant size French carriage clock in an elaborate two tone gilt and silvered brass glazed case with fluted pillars, capitals and finials to all four corners.

The enamel dial with roman numerals is set within a profusely engraved mask. The high quality eight-day duration movement with hour and half hour strike and plunger on the case pediment to repeat the hours. The large silvered platform lever escapement with a temperature compensated balance wheel. Complete with the original travelling box.

Interestingly this has all the features which identity the clock as being made by Jacot – the inner ring to the Arabic chapter ring; the elaborate engraving on the back plate of hands together with the elaborate arrow pointing to the direction the pointers have to be turned and the Jacot’s parrot trademark stamped on the back plate.
