Description:

An extremely rare 18th century George III miniature travelling clock in a small ebonised case with triple brass bound and panelled top with canted angles and a brass moulded plinth.

The dial with gilt headed spandrels and strike/silent to the arch has fine and original hands.

The 8-day movement with balance wheel verge escapement, chain fusee and rack striking on a bell.  The backplate is engraved and signed by the maker with an engraved regulating calibrating arch and large balance cock to the blued steel regulating lever.


Timothy Williamson is recorded as working in London from 1769 to 1788.  He was a noted maker of watches and musical clocks.  Examples of his work exist in the Peking Palace.
