BARRAUD’S no.478 Cornhill, London c1810

  BARRAUD’S no.478 Cornhill, London c1810

A particularly fine miniature regency timepiece contained in a well-proportioned rosewood and brass strung chamfered top case, standing on adjustable brass feet.

The enamel dial, with roman numerals and delicate pierced steel pointers, is set within a beautiful chased mask of bird and foliage design.

The single fusée timepiece movement has chain drive and an anchor escapement. The back plate is signed by the maker and the movement is stamped within the plates ‘Holmden 478’. Holmden made movements for both Barraud and Vulliamy and in the case of the latter, he was responsible for many of Vulliamy’s best carriage clocks.
